Hey y'all. You know what? I am in the Fall/Winter issue of Lucky Peach, the new Momofuku/McSweeney's food magazine. It's their second issue, and this is the hella gnarly cover:

And I'm not exactly in it, but 4 colorful and crotchety pages of my comics are. Ah-haha-weee!

There is also a sheet of stickers in there for you to use to decorate your fruit! Drawings in there by Laura Park, Scott Teplin, Tony MIllionaire, Renee French, Mark Todd, Gary Panter, and more! Pretty fun food rag, if you ask me!

I got to illustrate F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story, "The Jelly-Bean," for Scout Books' American Shorts series. They're doin' a bunch of short stories, accompanied by drawings from illustrators and cartoonists. Mine's the third one!

I guess summer is supposedly almost over, and there are some acorns strewn about and a few red leaves here and there to prove it. Well, fine.

Some cool things are happening despite this seasonal situation.

1. Missy Magazine did a huge story on women cartoonists, and it looks gorgeous. If you speak German, you are in lots of luck. ***OOPS! Edited to add: I am one of the cartoonists!

2. Papercutter #17 is out, and it's a whole issue devoted to stories written by minicomics hero Jason Martin, drawn by other artists.

I got to do a little story about teeny Jason and a fateful encounter with an edgy, creative mind.

Papercutter #17 is available at Buy Olympia, for four bucks.

3. "Graphic Details: Confessional Comics by Jewish Women," the traveling exhibition in which I am included, is going to be opening soon in New York, at Yeshiva University Museum. The show opens September 22. More information on the reception and various related panels can be found on the show's website or on YUM's Tumblr.

4. Rob Clough listed Make Me a Woman as number 6 out of his Top 50 Books of 2010. This makes me feel very good but I don't want to go on about it as it may be unseemly.

5. How pretty and adorable does Sarah Morean look reading Spaniel Rage? In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Read Comics in Public Day! Ain't no shame!

Gili Warsett interviewed me over at The Rumpus, and it went up yesterday, but I was in a car for 12 hours so I couldn't post about it. (I came to Portland for a wedding!)

And also really cool and happening yesterday, the Ignatz nominations were announced! And Make Me a Woman was nominated for Best Anthology/Collection.
